Field Day Overview:
California red scale is a primary citrus pest in the SJV. Heat and drought conditions over the last decade has increased pest pressure. Mating disruption is now an added tool in the toolbox to manage this pest combined with parasitoids release and pesticide applications. This pest has a very complex life cycle. Understanding pest biology and seasonal phenology is important for choosing management options. The field day will cover California red scale biology, monitoring and management and will provide overviews on the best management practices.
